I RUN FOR MY SISTER & I RUN FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T It is with great pleasure and excitement to share with you that I'll be participating in the Walt Disney Half Marathon event representing Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This run will be part of the weekend long event and takes place January 2025 in Orlando Florida. Great Strides is Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest national fundraising event and was established to offer hope to those living with this condition. Annually, Great Strides has over 50,000 people participate in different walks across the country to support the mission to cure CF and raise awareness about this rare, genetic disease. CF is a debilitating disease that causes a thick sticky mucus to build up in the lungs & digestive tract, as well as other areas of the body which leads to health complications such as chronic coughing, repeated lung infections, difficulty breathing, the inability to gain weight and poor growth. Each day, those with CF endure a rigorous routine of medications, therapies, and treatments just to maintain their health. But they do it with courage and determination, hoping that one day, CF will stand for "Cure Found." This hope drives our mission to fund research, support patient care, and provide resources to families affected by this challenging disease. Despite the progress gains raising funds and awareness; many people with CF do not benefit from existing medical therapies either because their disease is too advanced or because their specific genetic mutations will not respond. My younger sister; Hannah Eagan was diagnosed with CF since birth. She has been a silent warrior battling this challenging hidden disease for 25 years now. This is why I continue to stride each and every year and will continue to advocate for my sister and others.
