Support the cause of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on Thursday, September 24th at 1:30pm at the Third Annual Foundation Home Loans Golf Scramble.
The FHL Golf Scramble is held in honor of Emilee Clark and her fight with cystic fibrosis. Read Emilee's Story: Hello, my name is Emilee. I was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 3 months old. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that attacks your lungs, pancreas and other organs. Living with CF means dealing with endless cycles of medications, treatments, therapy and hospitalizations. CF is my normal, but I do not live in the shadows of CF. Cystic fibrosis has taught me there is strength in vulnerability. My battle/journey with cystic fibrosis is ongoing, a path that I navigate daily on a good day 3-4 hours of treatment a day. If I'm being truthful, it usually feels like I'm breathing through a closed straw, and it's not abnormal for me to have shortness of breath, coughing up blood, and lung infections. If I could give CF one word, it would be ISOLATING.
The constant struggle makes me appreciate the little things in life and how blessed I am. I was told I wouldn't live past high school, and I couldn't have children. I have persevered and defied the odds. I graduated college from Indiana University with a bachelor's in nursing. God has blessed me with a supportive husband and 3 beautiful children. The happiness they bring me is untouchable, and CF will never take that from me. Here are some fun facts about me... I have the most precious 3 babies; Nolette, Auzlyn and Noik. I love God, my husband, my children, golf, and dippin dots, and I have a dangerous competitive side to me.
I will not deny that cystic fibrosis constantly is TAKING, but the beautiful part of this golf scramble is that it is a day that we can GIVE. The goal of this fundraiser is to GIVE a glimpse of hope to the CF community that one day, we will out fight the battle. I had a goal to have a huge CF fundraiser. My husband and I have a strong passion for golf. I felt like I blinked, and my husband, with the support of Foundation Home Loans, made it possible to have this stellar fundraiser.
I am overjoyed with the support that has occurred to make this event successful. Last year, we raised $20,923, and that blew expectations out of the water. The whole purpose of this significant amount of donations is so people and families affected by CF can dream of a better tomorrow. Any and all contributions to CF are a powerful, positive inspiration to the CF community. Truly, THANK YOU so much to everyone who has supported cystic fibrosis in the past or future. Every little bit makes a big difference
