Delta Phi Epsilon & The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: A Legacy of Impact
Our Shared Purpose
For over a century, Delta Phi Epsilon has forged paths where there were none. Our members unite under justice, sisterhood, and love to make the world a more equitable and kind place. We carry on the legacy of our founders by striving for excellence in our personal, professional, and academic lives.
Since 1917, DPhiE sisters have valued the importance of serving our local communities. Throughout the years, we have supported various causes and raised millions of dollars. Our official philanthropic partners hold great significance to our sisterhood and are a key part of the Delta Phi Epsilon membership experience.
Our Partnership: A Commitment to a Cure
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. While it was virtually unknown to the general population until 1955, a dedicated group of parents formed the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) to change that narrative. Their mission is to be the driving force in finding a cure.
Our connection to this mission runs deep. Phyllis Kossoff, a member of our Delta Chapter at Hunter College, was instrumental in founding the CFF. In 1957, Phyllis visited our international convention and shared her endeavors during an emotional presentation.
Inspired by her vision, Delta Phi Epsilon officially designated the CFF as our philanthropy. Since that day, sisters from every chapter have united to support the CFF mission. Together, we have donated more than $1 million to research in the pursuit of curing cystic fibrosis.
