The Lowcountry Red Trout Celebrity Classic will proudly celebrate 20 years in 2021. This 30-boat inshore fishing tournament was started by Champ Smith and Gary Ellis. We celebrate Gary’s memory, his generous life, his love for fishing, and passion to find a cure for cystic fibrosis as a CF father and founder of the RedBone Tournament Series.
The Lowcountry Red Trout tournament has raised close to 2 million dollars for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Each boat, comprised of 2 anglers and a professional Guide, takes to the water Friday and Saturday for redfish and trout, all in the name to “catch a cure” for cystic fibrosis.
Every year, a deserving individual involved with the tournament receives the Rob Shore Award. The award is named in memory of Rob Shore who passed in February 2013 but lived his life with CF to the absolute fullest. This award is presented by Rob’s grandfather, Bob Royall. It is given to someone who demonstrates leadership, enthusiasm, and a love for fishing.
Your participation in this event supports the mission of the CF Foundation; to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives by funding research and drug development, partnering with the CF community, and advancing high-quality, specialized care.
