I ROSE UP for all people with CF
Lydia Sand
I am beyond excited to share that I’m participating in ROSE UP on October 24, 2024! Read more about this awesome event, why I’m participating, and how you can help make a difference below!
ROSE UP, now in its fifth year, is a virtual fundraising event created and led by adults with cystic fibrosis to bring everyone in CF community (no matter your connection) together to advance the mission to find a cure and to improve the quality of life for all people living with CF. The beauty of ROSE UP – You can do whatever is meaningful to you.
For those of you who don’t know, I was diagnosed with CF at age 9. While I’m eligible to take Trikafta, (which is a modulator drug designed to treat the faulty CFTR protein – the underlying cause of CF) after three attempts over the last several years, I finally made the hard choice that it is not the drug for me due to the side effects. As a result of all this, I wanted to do whatever I could to keep my lungs healthy and decided why not push myself to run consistently and run in five races throughout the year (for a little extra motivation to not stop)?! So that’s what I’ve done and am doing! I started training in March and haven’t stopped yet! So far I’ve run two of my five races, in May and June, and have two more in September, and my final one in October – your donations will help fuel me across the finish lines for the remaining three – will you help me?
Despite all the research and progress made, CF is no walk in the park. Trikfata (and other modulator drugs) are not a cure. There is still so much going on behind the scenes each day. There is also 10% of the CF population who still don’t even have access to a modulator drug – there is so much more to do. That is why I ROSE UP. Will you join me and consider donating to help advance research and find a cure for CF? Click the donate button for my campaign – any amount counts and is truly appreciated.
Thank you for your support of Team Lydia through the ROSE UP campaign.
